Md. Imran

Talatali, Barguna

The BNP student wing in Talatali staged a human chain protest in front of Talatali Government College today, demanding justice for victims of gender-based violence and an end to impunity. The protestors specifically called for the maximum punishment of those involved in the brutal assault on a young girl in Magura.

The demonstration took place at 11:00 AM, with speeches from Mohammad Zahirul Islam Zahir, Member Secretary of Talatali Upazila BNP Student Wing, and other leaders, including Joint Convenor Masud Rana, Ruhul Amin (Convenor of the Government College BNP Student Wing), and Joint Convenors Md. Suman Kari and Bashir Uddin. Other members present included Tarek Gazi, Rakib, Mizanur Rahman, and Shahriar Nafis.

The protestors urged the government to take stronger action to curb violence against women, stating, “The failure to control law and order has led to a rise in gender-based violence nationwide, including in Magura. The lack of justice for perpetrators allows these crimes to continue unchecked. The interim government has been in power for seven months, yet no improvement has been seen. The government must take full responsibility for this situation.”

They also accused the government of failing to address the Magura case properly, calling it a sign of broader systemic failure. The demonstration was part of a nationwide initiative led by the central BNP Student Wing, protesting against the increasing violence, harassment, and lack of justice for women across the country.
