In a major law enforcement operation dubbed “Operation Devil Hunt,” Singra Police arrested three individuals, including the Chairman of Chamari Union Parishad and members of the Awami League. The arrests took place on the night of February 18, when they were taken into custody from their homes, followed by the detention of Habibur Rahman Swapan Mollah, Chairman of Chamari Union, on February 19 at the Sub-Registrar Office premises.
The arrested individuals include:
Habibur Rahman Swapan Mollah, Chairman of Chamari Union Parishad and member of the Singra Upazila Awami League
Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Vice President of Hatianandh Union Awami League
Golam Mustafa, Former member of Hatianandh Union Parishad and Vice President of 6th Ward Awami League
Confirming the arrests, Rafiqul Islam, Police Inspector (Investigation), stated that the individuals were detained in connection with two separate cases filed in September 2023. These cases involve assaults on BNP activists during protests in 2018 and 2023. The suspects have been sent to court after their arrests.
Furthermore, the police have indicated that Habibur Rahman Swapan Mollah faces additional legal proceedings, with further investigations underway.
